The idea, objectives and main results

A typical craft enterprise has an energy saving potential of between 15 and 30 % - and that it is used rarely.

The practical implementation of energy saving measures in craft SME´s is on very low level, because craft SME´s are primarily interested in producing a high quality product and getting into the markets and so may not focus on energy as a key part of their business.

The E-Check in Craft SME project aimed to support craft SME by developing user friendly energy check tool to identify their energy saving potential.

The energy check (E-Check) is carried out by craftsmen who have been especially trained on the energy specificities of the respective craft. These so called E-Checkers therefore know the dodges of their trade.

Being craftsmen themselves, they enjoy the collegial trust of the management and staff of the SME they are checking, much more than an external consultant. As a result, the recommendations the E-Checkers make are practical and well-founded, thereby significantly increasing the likelihood that they will be implemented.

The main results are numerous E-Check instruments which are available in English, German, Spain, Greek and Bulgarian for craft sectors like bakers, butchers, carpenters, food producers and bricklayers, glazers and painters.

Please find the main deliverables in English language based on the results elaborated by the Irish partners. For further information in German, Bulgarian, Greek, Irish and Spanish please visit the country specific pages.

To learn more about the full version of the E-Check Tool please contact the national co-ordinators of the partner countries.
